Provision of Workshops

Out of necessity the villagers have retained their traditional skills in both metalwork and woodwork. In order to develop these skills and to provide training for the village youth it was decided to build some workshops.

The charity provided the required materials (cement, aggregate, steel reinforcing rods, roofing etc). The building work was carried out be the villagers, on a voluntary basis, which included making cement blocks.

One of the founding members of the charity, Councillor Maurice Hutchinson, had intended to visit the village in December 2006. Tragically he died in October of that year. The villagers decided to name the workshops in his honour.

In January 2011 woodworking and metalwork tools and equipment were delivered to the village in the container. These tools had been donated by some of our supporters. We are extremely grateful for their contribution. We hope to deliver further tools and equipment in the future.

The charity has also provided solar lighting to these workshops and provided a generator which will power some of the tools and welding equipment.
